COVID-19 Vaccination in People with Autoimmune Rheumatic Diseases

Recently approved COVID-19 vaccines have brought promise to help end a pandemic that has caused an unprecedented impact on people and society. This session will review recent Canadian Rheumatology Association living guidelines on COVID-19 vaccination and emerging evidence on the safety and effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccination, as it relates to people with autoimmune rheumatic diseases. Issues of vaccine hesitancy will also be discussed.

Learning Objectives
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. understand the CRA Living Guideline for COVID-19 vaccination in people with autoimmune rheumatic diseases
  2. understand the emerging evidence on the effectiveness and safety of COVID-19 vaccines in people with autoimmune diseases
  3. identify factors that contribute to vaccine hesitancy and strategies on how they can be addressed
