The CRA Practice Reflection Award recognizes the importance of reflection and practice change to ultimately improve patient care.   This award encourages CRA members to develop innovative and practical self-assessment programs and quality improvement (QI) initiatives.

Program Overview

Self-reflection programs can often lead to practice change better than conventional learning modalities.  Chart audits and other methods of practice reflection & self-assessment have been proven successful in achieving Competency Based Continuing Professional Development (CPD).  The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada recognizes the value of self-assessment programs, through Section 3 credits, and emphasizes the importance of incorporating these types of activities in members’ Continuing Professional Development.

Application Process

  • Applicants are encouraged to submit projects for a juried review by members of the CRA Education Committee
  • Application deadline is mid-October annually
  • Assessment criteria for the award includes relevance of the topic, innovation, ease of program application, cost effectiveness, trainee involvement, private practice application, scholarly background, and project completion
  • This is an annual competition, awards are granted on merit and depending upon caliber of submissions, all award(s) may not be granted each year
  • Award(s) will be presented at the following year’s Annual Scientific Meeting
