Project Summary

The major barrier to conducting randomized clinical trials in myositis in Canada is the absence of track records at study sites to recruit and conduct myositis trials. We aim to demonstrate myositis trial readiness by :

1) expanding the number of Canadian Inflammatory Myopathy Study (CIMS) sites and recruiting at least 35 myositis subjects over one year, and

2) building capacity to conduct myositis trials at CIMS sites, with a specific focus on investigator competency in disease specific study measures and outcomes.

So far, we have 6 active sites and 6 others in various stages of start-up. Patient recruitment is well underway. We have held several investigator meetings, including an investigator standardization workshop in Montreal in June 2018. We will hold a CIMS symposium in May 2019 and invite industry partners to demonstrate our readiness.
