Autologous Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation for Systemic Sclerosis in Canada

July 24, 2026

The Canadian Scleroderma Research Group teamed up with the Australian Scleroderma Interest Group to developed a new set of inclusion/exclusion criteria for stem cell transplantation that can act as guide to Canadian rheumatologists. The criteria were based on the results of a large Delphi survey of SSc experts around the world, with the exception of the interim cardiac exclusion criteria which was based on the opinions of a smaller number of experts. For more information and links to the complete list of specialists and criteria, please read the CRAJ article by Murray Baron, MD, FRCP(C), published July 2020.
